19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.
The win also means Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to win a championship is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the final five games to take the lead.
The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.
The opponent defended four early-game break points in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
